UR1 Music & Arts Festival (iOS app)

UR1 is a music & arts festival in Miami, FL (US). The organizers wanted to develop an iOS app that would stand from the crowd of other festival apps, and this exactly what my friends (iOS developer Robert Murray and Visual Designer Chrissy Cowdrey) set out to do. Almost all the existing music festival applications are still rooted in iOS’ “original” patterns and felt rather outdated I began expl

Work at Dell

I’ve been working as an Interaction Designer at Dell in Austin, TX since July of 2011. Work at Roundarch

I worked as a User Experience Designer at Roundarch in New York City during 2011. It was my first design job at a digital agency. This is an environment I felt compelled to experience after being an in-house designer at a big company for nearly 4 years. During my time at Roundarch, I had the opportunity to work directly with mobile applications (something I had not done for before –professionally). Disclaimer:

Work at Pearson Education

Pearson Education in Indianapolis is where I worked as an Interaction Designer for 4 years. My daily activities involved brainstorming with product/project managers and user interface designers about the requirement for user interfaces of internal management tools and education-related web sites. If I was not talking to business analyst about new ideas, I was constantly gathering information with real users of Pearso

“Paper in Screen” Prototyping

This is a new, rapid technique to anticipate the mobile user experience. It was also the topic of my thesis project for the Human-Computer Interaction Masters Programme at Indiana University in Indianapolis. The research that emerged from this project resulted in a published article I co-authored with Dr. Davide Bolchini and Dr. Anthony Faiola, which was featured in the July-August/2009 issue of ACM’s Interacti

Vertsumption (mobile application)

Vertsumption is the name of an iPhone application design I’ve created for an independent study in my Human-Computer Interaction Masters programme at IUPUI. The concept behind Vertsumption is based on an enviromentally-friendly principle: that of shaping the behaviour of consumers and how they go about consuming products on a daily basis. This would be done by giving Vertsumption users a number of “Green P

Universally Accessible Exhibit

For this project, we were required to create a video prototype of an interactive installation/exhibit at a museum. The installation needed to be educational, entertaining and most of all, universally accessible. We decided to create an installation that would take place “in the future” but would be shown in the present. The main theme of the installation would be a recollection of different actions that &

Experience Design: Disability

For this project, 2 classmates and I assumed different types of disabilities, in order to gain a deeper insight into living with them. The underlying stories behind each disability come as follows (the design techniques used to experience such disabilities are described later): Chad assumed an aural disability. He was a deaf person who was born like this, so he has never been able to hear or speak anything. He

Corkaborator

The idea behind Corkaborator is very simple: A cork board is a place in the office or at home where any type of paper documents can be placed and secured with a thumb tack. It’s visible to everyone, for it’s usually hanging on a wall and with a simple glance, anyone can see what is up for seeing. Whether it’s fliers, reminders or proper documents, a cork board is a great tool for handling certain types of documents.

Froody (CSCW)

This is a CSCW (computer-supported cooperative work) project created for one of my Human-Computer Interaction modules. Froody is the prototype for a social network targeting kids between the ages of 7 and 12 years of age. It uses the analogy of fruits as avatars and a fruit basket as a virtual environment. The main innovation of this project is the ability to display the user’s current and previous mood states
