African University Foundation

This is one of my latest projects from one of my modules at IUPUI. The African University Foundation is based in Indianapolis, IN. It works towards the development of a university in Tali, Cameroon.

The foundation’s chairman came to my New Media module looking for students to help redesign their current web site. Me and two of my classmates saw an opportunity to be directly involved in a really great cause, by trying to give this web site a more efficient, clean an modern look.

We applied different usability, information architecture and interaction design skills, learned in previous HCI modules. We engaged in a card sorting exercise to develop the site’s site map. We also did a series of paper and interactive prototypes before building the final site. Finally we applied some simple, yet effective CSS, and Javascript code, with a pervasive navigation system and colours that fit the foundation’s logo.

The redesigned site was finally implemented in 2008.
